It’s amazing what a little paint + wallpaper + maybe some intentional props ;) can do. This mudroom is the first thing I walk through when I enter our home - and I was tired of it not feeling welcoming, now I feel like I’m greeted by a warm hug.
We built our home in the grey era- so every piece of our home that I haven’t painted is grey. Which I loved at the time… and might be regretting now.
I started with painting the ceiling and walls swiss coffee. I came across wallpaper and paint inspo. that I just instantly was drawn to, so I took a photo from Pinterest to Benjamin Moore and had the most helpful clerk help me find a paint color. I ordered a sample of the wallpaper to make sure the paint and wallpaper would compliment each, and thankfully they matched perfectly! I used Benjamin Moore Navy Masterpiece which actually doesn’t feel like a navy at all. Throughout different times of the day I can’t tell if the shiplap is blue, green, black, or dark gray. Its beautiful!
Once the walls were painted my husband and I applied peel and stick wallpaper. For years I was scared of wallpaper- and not I'm a little obsessed with it. It adds SO MUCH CHARACTER to a room and it is not nearly as hard to install as I thought it would be. This is the third room I’ve added wallpaper to, and just have to say if you are on the fence TRY IT! Take your time, don’t rush through the application, and you’ll love how it transforms your space.
I added some new coat hooks, a new light fixture, and a couple things around the house for decor, and voila, we’ve completely transformed this little mudroom into a space that feels like ahh, welcome home.
